22And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: 23Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. 24But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. 25And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. – Acts 20:22-25

I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. – Psalm 16:8

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. – 1 Corinthians 15:58

4 Anchors of the Apostle Paul

A sense of Destiny

There is nothing better than being certain of God’s purpose for you

God wants us to live, not just exist

A sense of Dedication

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. – Romans 12:1

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ – Ephesians 1:3

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue – 2 Peter 1:3

Does God have all of us as a dedicated sacrifice to Him?

The least we can do, Christ died for us, can’t we live for Him?

A sense of Declaration

And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. – Acts 20:25

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. – 2 Corinthians 5:20

We’ll declare good things

That we have a cold, we’ll declare it to people who come up to us

When girls get engaged, they’ll declare it to everyone within earshot

When our sports team wins, guys let the world know

When it comes to declaring Christ, we clam up

We don’t want to intrude on others

A sense of Duty

26Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. 27For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. – Acts 20:26-27

17Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. 18When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 19Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. – Ezikiel 3:17-19

Military men and women will not leave a fellow behind

They call it their duty and they do not forget it

What is the duty of a Christian

Eating?

Gathering in Church?

Singing?

Paul tells us what our duty is

To never not tell someone the truth about Jesus Christ

He didn’t care if he’d been arrested, beaten, or scorned
