God Works IN Us Before He Works THROUGH Us
8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:8-10
Salvation is not the end of God’s plans for you, it is just the beginning. The christian life is to be much more than just an existence, it should be an adventure that points others to Christ.
God has chosen you, called you, saved you, and has a plan for you!
Get out of the Grave Clothes
Get into the Grace Clothes
God uses these tools to work on us:
13For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. – 1 Thessalonians 2:13
How do you respond to the word of God working on you?
Do you get mad?
Do you shoot the messenger?
Do you avoid it?
Do you respond to it?
16That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us – Ephesians 3:16-20
Paul makes 4 requests:
v.16 Strengthen: Obtain a new man
v.17 Depth: Have a deeper knowledge
v.18 Comprehension: The understanding of how much love God has
v.19 The depth of His love passes our ability to understand
12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. – 1 Peter 4:12-13
Why should we think we should be above suffering?
God worked on Moses for 40 years
God worked on Joseph and David for years before their ascension to greatness
We are His workmanship
We should let Him work in us,
so He can work through us
