The Easter Angel

The Easter Angel

Mark 16:1-8

1And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. 2And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun. 3And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? 4And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great. 5And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted. 6And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. 7But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you. 8And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.

Christ is risen

Any important announcement in the Bible is given by an angel.  This announcement was no different.  On that first Easter morning, as dawn was breaking on a world that was forever changed, a special angel delivered a special message.  A message that is still vital today.

Peace – Be Not Afraid

Notice just a few of the area’s of life where His resurrection gives peace:

Salvation

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. – Hebrews 7:25

Death

25Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? – John 11 25-26

Eternity

1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. – John 14:1-3

Life Itself

16And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. – John 14:16-18

Power – He is Risen

Jesus was not the only one to come back from death

Just days before, Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead

Jesus is the first one to get up to die no more

Through Jesus, we can have abundant life

Through Jesus, we can have an eternity in Heaven

A dead man has no power over anyone

A Risen Savior has the power to change the world

Potential – He is not Here

This work of the risen Lord is forever finished (Hebrews 10:12).  However, do not think for a minute that Jesus is not busy this morning.  He is still alive and He is still active on our behalf.  He is:

Acting as our Intercessor

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. – Hebrews 7:25

Watching over us always

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. – Hebrews 4:13

Acting as our Advocate

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. – 1 John 2:2

Preparing a place for Us

1Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. – John 14:1-3

Waiting for the Father to send Him after His Children

From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. – Hebrews 10:13

Promise – Ye shall see Him

How can we see He who has died and is not even in the grave anymore?

We shall see His face in glory

We will be able to stand face to face with Him and thank Him

All because of what Jesus did on the cross, our sins are forgiven

All we have to do is to receive the work He did
