God works IN US before He works THROUGH US

God works IN US before He works THROUGH US

god works through us

Ephesians 2:8-10

8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

God has chosen you, called you, saved you, and has a plan for you!  God uses these tools to work on us: His Word, Prayer, Suffering.

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. – 1 Thessalonians 2:13

How do you respond when God’s word works on you

Do you get mad at the Preacher

Or do you receive it

The Bible shows us what we are meant to be aware of

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us – Ephesians 3:20

Paul’s Prayer

14For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. – Ephesians 3:14-19

Paul makes four requests in this prayer

Strengthening of the inner man – v16

He knows that inside is where we’ll have the doubting

Dwelling in our hearts  – v17

To have deeper knowledge rooted in God

Comprehend – v18

To understand the breadth, the length, and the depth of His Love

Filled with fullness- v19

God’s divine nature is good for filling the holes in our lives

12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. – 1 Peter 4:12-13

Don’t be surprised

Suffering will happen so it shouldn’t surprise us when it does

Be joyful instead

We might be part of a bigger plan to use us for something much greater

As a child of God, we are His workmanship

and we should let Him work on us

so He can work through us
