Who Should We Vote For

Who Should We Vote For

Exodus 18:21

Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens

The First Qualification is

God is looking for leaders who are able

They are able to fit the position that they are running for

They must be faithful to their work and their constituants

The Second Qualification is

God is looking for leaders who fear Him

To possess an honor and reverence for the Lord

This comes from knowing that one day they’ll have to give an account for their actions

The fear of God protects them from the fear of the people

The fear of God leads to great wisdom

The fear of God keeps people from becoming arrogant

The Third Qualification is

God is looking for leaders that are truthful

Truth is translated as trustworthiness

Do they keep their word

Do their personal lives live up to what they say

Do they show integrity

The Fourth Qualification is

God is looking for leaders who hate dishonesty

This would not be someone who has profited unjustly

God is not against wealthy people, just ones who have “cheated the system”

Application

Pray before you vote

Ask God for guidance

Get out and vote

Shame on those who do not exercise their right to vote

Know who you’re voting for

Make a choice

If we are not concerned enough to vote, we will be governed by people who are worse than we are
