If You’re Saved and You Know it, Say Amen!

If You’re Saved and You Know it, Say Amen!

Romans 3:28

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Everyone has faith in something; we have faith that the chair we’re sitting in will hold, us for instance.  But there are some false faiths.  There is nothing worse than going to hell thinking you’re going to heaven.

Three things that are not necessarily evidence of saving faith

Visible Morality

Even if a person shows it, acts it, or talks it

Outwardly there are many good people who might not be saved

Biblical Knowledge

You can know a lot about the Bible but if it’s all in your head and not in your heart, it’s not being saved

The Guilt of Sin

Feeling guilty about sin is not proof you’re saved

Don’t confuse guilt with conviction

Guilt brings us to our knees to pray for salvation

Conviction brings back to God

There are three witnesses that testify of our faith

The eternal work of the Savior  (1 John 5:6)

This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood.

It’s not how much faith you have, but what you have faith in that matters

The internal witness of the Spirit  (1 John 5:6b)

And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

If you believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit in your heart lets you know you’re saved

The external witness of Scriptures  (1 John 5:10-13)

10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Salvation does not hinge on your emotions or feelings, you have the Word of God to prove it

Take three tests from 1 John

The Commandment Test

If a person says they’re saved, yet have nothing to do with God: it’s safe to say they’re not saved

The Companion Test

If we are truly saved, we would love other people

The Commitment Test

If you’re saved you would tell someone about it

If you’re saved and you know it, say Amen!
