What would you like to Do Over?

What would you like to Do Over?

Matthew 26:69-75

69 Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.73 And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech bewrayeth thee.74 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him,Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Peter’s Faith

His Conversion

He had literally experienced a personal encounter with Jesus

He was settled on who Jesus was

His Confession

He absolutely trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior

He was totally “In It” with Jesus

Peter’s Fall

His Words

He rebuked Christ’s words

He was angry with Jesus for asking him if he loved Him

He rejected Christ’s words

He denied Jesus three times

His Walk

He fell asleep when watching Jesus

He distanced himself from Jesus later in the courtyard

He fellowshipped at the wrong fire

He was with the people who were in agreement that Jesus was to be crucified

His Ways

He forsook the Saviour

He forsook his service

His sins reached a point where he just ran away

Overwhelmed with grief and guilt, he wept bitterly

Peter’s Do Over

His Repentance

He asked for Jesus to forgive him

When the rooster crowed, that was the point where The Lord broke Peter

His Restoration

He was met by Jesus by the seashore

Jesus accepted him back

His revival

Jesus led him back to the mission field

He was put back “in charge” of the rest of disciples
