Owning the Mission

Owning the Mission

John 20:21

Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

In this verse, we see 6 value statements that help us see where we’re heading in our walk with Christ.

Instructing from God’s Word

Mobilizing for ministry

Praying with faith

Adoring God in worship

Caring for each other

Telling others the Gospel

Notice in John 20:19-23

Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.  And when he had so said, he showed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.  Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.  And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:  Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.

He accepts us

This peace has at least 4 dimensions

Peace with God

Peace in difficult times

Peace in our relationships

Peace with the past

He commissions us

Jesus tells the disciples they are to go and spread the Gospel

As Christians, we are also commissioned to spread the Gospel

There are a few things we need to do to spread the Gospel

Take initiative

Open our mouths

Declare and demonstrate Christ

He equips us

God gives us the Holy Spirit as soon as we are saved

God gives us the words to say

God convites us as well as the listener

God gives us Christ like qualities
